My proficiency spans Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra and Elasticsearch, employing Spark for big data processing and orchestrating pipelines with Kubernetes-native tools like Argo Workflows and Luigi.
As a seasoned developer across front-end and back-end technologies, I work from .NET, Java, Scala, Go and Python to modern front-end frameworks, and pick up code written by others quickly.
I lean on Python and Bash scripting to strip manual steps out of both development and infrastructure workflows.
I began my career as a software developer in 1999. My first role involved developing a web system in Java with minimal JavaScript use. During the 2000–2001 crisis I was laid off, but within two weeks returned to work — this time using classic ASP and VB6 on an IIS server, right as the idea of the Single Page Application was emerging.
In 2004, I transitioned to learning C# and the ASP.NET framework for web system development, using ASP.NET AJAX for client-server communication and SQL Server for data storage. Over the next ten years I worked extensively as a full-stack and backend .NET developer, writing Windows services, SSIS applications and PowerShell scriptlets, and building jQuery clients and plugins.
In 2014, I shifted focus to become a solution architect on a Big Data team, working with Hadoop, various NoSQL databases and Elasticsearch. I revisited Java, learned Python, and began using Node.js and Angular.js for rapid service development — while gradually making Linux my primary OS.
In 2017, I returned to a developer role as a Senior Software Developer and began working with Docker, migrating systems from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes. I built CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Groovy and automated installs with Python and Ansible — which led me into a DevOps role in 2019.
